Kidney Diseases, Dialysis and Renal Transplant

Treatments By Dr. Manjitpal

Dialysis

Dialysis is a life-saving treatment for patients with kidney failure, also known as end-stage renal disease (ESRD). This condition occurs when the kidneys lose their ability to effectively filter waste products and excess fluid from the blood. Dialysis acts as an artificial replacement for kidney function by performing crucial functions.

Renal transplant

A renal transplant is a surgical procedure in which a healthy kidney from a donor (living or deceased) is transplanted into a recipient with kidney failure. This procedure offers several advantages over long-term dialysis, including improved quality of life and better long-term outcomes.

Renal Biopsies

Renal biopsies are diagnostic procedures used to obtain a small sample of kidney tissue for examination under a microscope. This procedure helps nephrologists and pathologists assess kidney health, identify the cause of kidney diseases or abnormalities, and determine the best treatment approach.

Hemodialysis

Blood is filtered by means of a machine which runs blood through a tubing connected to a differential filter membrane and toxins diffuse from higher concentration in blood to lower concentration in dialysate water.
